I love three day weekends! I thought I would share what I plan to read over this glorious 3-day weekend.
This will be my second Du Maurier this year and I know I will enjoy it as much as I did Jamaica Inn. I’ve heard that this was her best novel.
Rebecca is the story of a heroine who is swept off her feet by a wealthy widower. She then moves into his manor (mansion, big house?) and immediately sees something amiss because of his beloved first wife and the staff who still work there.
This should be a quick read and I am exciting to get back into Du Maurier’s atmospheric writing and crazy, dark stories.
I am YA (young adult) fantasy trash! I love fantasies and world building and magic systems and crazy, villainous characters and don’t even get me started on the romance (the cheesier the better).
This the story of a small village where every 10 years a girl is sent to live with the “Dragon” (who is a person not a dragon) and I don’t know much else about the story.
I’ve heard mixed things about this book so I am interested to see what I think.
3. Audio Book: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sanz
This is a book that piqued my interest after hearing about the writing style in the book and the adorable relationship/friendship between the two characters. It’s suppose to be beautiful and captivating. I tend to listen to more contemporary novels or non-fiction when audiobooking because I can listen and get an understanding of the story and not worry that I missed an important piece of the magic system or world-building that is often involved in fantasy books.
I’m totally anticipating this weekend and hope to at least make substantial process/if not finish these books over the long weekend. Let me know if you would like a wrap-up of what I read over the long weekend.
