Will I Continue? Stalking Jack the Ripper Series

Hey y’all! I’m coming to you today with another “Will I Continue?” post.  This time I am talking about Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco.

This story takes place in the 19th century and we follow a character named Audrey Rose. She is not the standard Victorian girl. She is not interested in gossip and fashion, her true interest lies in forensic science.  Audrey Rose is an apprentice for her uncle who performs autopsies and other experiments.  Throughout the course of the novel, we watch Audrey Rose unapologetically become who she is, fall in love, and solve the mystery of who is Jack the Ripper.

I really enjoyed the dark tone of this novel.  It had a creepy air that added to the sinister vibe of the killings that were happening.  The book is not for the faint of heart as it does get a little gory but it was nothing that my gentle heart couldn’t handle.  The love story that plays out in this book is so adorable, albeit maybe a little obvious, and the mystery had me guessing the whole time.  Maniscalco weaved together a tale with great historical detail that I immediately wanted to research more details surrounding Jack the Ripper.  The only reason that I could not give this a complete five stars was that the first fourth of the book was a little slow for my taste, but when the book took off, I was hooked.

Will I continue this series?  Yes, but I’m not in a huge rush.  I enjoyed the characters and the historical references but I don’t feel the urgency to immediately pick up the next book that has just recently been released. I would definitely recommend this book for people looking for a historical fiction with a nice mystery and an adorable love story.

Let me know what you thought of Stalking Jack the Ripper? Did you enjoy it? Are you going to pick it up? Let’s talk in the comments.

Much Love,

Tasha
