November Read-A-Thin To Be Read

Hey y’all! Instead of doing a regular TBR I will be doing separate TBRs for each readathon that I will be participating in this month.  There are two for sure and probably a third short one around Thanksgiving.  I don’t know, we all know how I am about TBRs and readathons.

Today this will be my Read-a-Thin TBR.  The ladies at A Court of Books and Love, JessicaMarie493, and A Very Bookish Girl are coming again with this awesome readathon.  The goal of this readathon is to read the books on your TBR shelf to thin out your unread books.  There are 18 prompts and I plan on trying to complete all of them.  October wasn’t the best reading month but I have some days off work in November with Thanksgiving and other stuff so I should be able to read a lot more. Anyway, here are the books with the prompts that I plan to read for this readathon.

A 2017 ReleaseThe Power by Naomi Alderman – I have been dying to read this book ever since I heard it won the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction in the UK.  I feel like I have been waiting on this book forever. I got this in my Book of the Month box for October.

Little & Lion

A Diverse BookLittle & Lion by Brandy Colbert – This book I believe has Black characters, LGBTQ characters, and a character suffering with a mental illness.  This will definitely be a good fit for this challenge. This is also a Book of the Month pick from August(?).

A book related to favorite emoji The Martian by Andy Weir.  My favorite emoji is the laughing emoji and I heard this book was funny so…..

The Lauras

Fall themed cover The Lauras by Sara Taylor – I got this book from Blogging for Books so I really need to get on reading this and look at the cover.  It’s fall to me.

Start and Finish a Series – I’m picking the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.  I read the first book A Discovery of Witches in October but I am going to finish the trilogy for this challenge.  I have a full review of A Discovery of Witches here.  The next two books are Shadow of Night and The Book of Life.

Complete a Book in 24 hours Muddy Madeline Meets an Arach-A-Doo by Amanda Stone Norton.  I met this author at the Dallas Book Festival this past April and still have not picked this book up.  It’s a middle grade book about a very curious little girl.  I love books about girls in science so I’m excited to finally read this.

New to you author 12 Ways You Phone is Changing You by Tony Reinke.  I won this book at a church event and I can’t wait to see the tips and biblical principles that this book is based on.

The Couple Next DoorBuddy Read a Book The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena.  This is the pick for my in real life book club.  So this counts.

Read a Horror/Thriller The Enemy by Charlie Higson.  This was on my October TBR and I just didn’t get to it.  I hope I can knock it out this month.

Outside My Favorite Genre Do You Want to Start a Scandal? by Tessa Dare.  This is a romance book.  If I had to pick a favorite genre it would be literary fiction.  This is a regency romance so this is all the way out of my comfort zone.

Read an E-book River of Teeth by Sara Gailey.  I think there are genetically modified hippos in this, so why not.

Listen to an Audiobook – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare – I am finally starting the Mortal Instruments. I really want to get to the Infernal Devices, so I’m gonna read them in the order they are meant to be read.  Plus my hold came in a little bit earlier than expected. 🙂

A Book that Counts Towards Another Readathon The Uncoupling by Meg Wolitzer.  I plan on participating in the Contemporary-a-thon later this month, so this book is perfect for that.

Book Due the Soonest at the Library Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. This book is due the second week of November, so this definitely counts.

Book Previously Put Down Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders.  I was reading this during my mid-month reading slump so I put it down for something a little quicker.  It worked, I’m out of the slump and I will be continuing this book.

Book from a Subscription Box Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.  This book is everywhere so I won’t bore you with a synopsis.  I got this in a Book of the Month box.

Kiss Me in New York

Book I got for free Kiss Me in New York by Catherine Rider.  I got this from Netgalley and I don’t know what it is about. I believe it is a standard chick lit and I am here for it.

The last challenge is Read four books that count for eight challenges.  I’m sure this one won’t be a problem.

Are you participating in the Read-a-thin? What are you planning on reading if you are participating?  Let’s chat in the comments.

Much Love,

Tasha
