Hey y’all! I don’t talk about it often but I love to get sucked into tomes. There is something about spending a lot of time with characters and a world that I really enjoy. I feel like I can get to know the characters and be transported into the world. Can you tell my social life is a little non-existent? LOL. I thought today I would do a list of the top 6 big books that are on my shelf and that I want to curl up with in the, theoretically, colder months (it was 78 yesterday, sooooo).
Green Earth by Kim Stanley Robinson (1,069 pages) – This is a bind-up of 3 of Robinson’s Capital Trilogy. It’s a sci-fi about global warming and the effects on the world. I feel like this will awaken the science nerd in me and I can’t wait to dive in. I probably will just read each novel separately.
Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin (916 pages) – As I have said I am interested in American History, specifically the Civil War, slavery, and the Civil Rights movement. Lincoln is an important part of the Civil War and the Emancipation Proclamation so I figured why not read about his entire presidency.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (850 pages) – This is a thick little book. My version is a mass market paperback that I will probably try to find a bigger paperback for cheaper. Anyway, I don’t know a whole lot about this book, but I’m not 100% sure what it’s about. I would like to keep it that way.
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt (771 pages) – This book is a part of a project that I am doing for next year (I’ll reveal during my favorites week). Anyway, I believe we follow a boy and a painting or something. I don’t know, but I do know that this is a monster book that people love.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling (759 pages) – This will be completed this month. I don’t need to attempt a synopsis because we all know what this is about.
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (694 pages) – I can’t wait for this! I recently watched like all but one of the seasons of the show. I’m most excited to read about the “Red Wedding” because that is one of the most memorable scenes of the show in my opinion.
Okay y’all, here are the six biggest books on my to be read shelf. Which one should I dive into first? Let’s chat in the comments.
