Hey y’all! Today I wanted to give you a break from the reviews that I have been putting up with the Reading Habits Tag. Reading is obviously my main hobby so I thought this would be a fun and informal way to discuss my reading habits. Let’s start the tag:
Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Yes! I read either in my reading chair or in my bed. My room is easily the quietest place in the house, so I like to read there.
Bookmark or random piece of paper?
I’m definitely a bookmark girl. I keep a stack on my bedside table and when I pick up a new book to read, I also select a bookmark.
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?
I prefer to stop reading at the end of a chapter, however being a mom I often have to stop in the middle of reading to tend to my kid. So I’m not too picky about it.
Do you eat or drink while reading?
Sometimes. I only select snacks that won’t leave residue on the pages though. I often read with a cup of tea, coffee, or water.
Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
I don’t listen to music while reading because my mind will definitely wander. But I may have something on the TV while I’m reading. I find total silence distracting, so I do require some noise to help me focus.
One book at a time or several at once?
Always several at once. I currently have 4 books going, because I am attempting to get through some of the bigger books on my shelf, but I also have a lot of books that I’m reading for review purposes. At the very least I will have three: one audiobook, one e-book, and one physical book.
Reading at home or everywhere?
Everywhere! Although I prefer to be at home, I do have to go places but I always have a book with me either physical, e-book, or audiobook and I will pick it up where ever I can.
Reading out loud or silently in your head?
In my head. Reading is my quiet time and I really think I would annoy myself if I read out loud.
Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
I don’t anymore. A couple of years ago I was the person who read the last sentence of the book. I know, it’s terrible. But now, I have a little more self control that I don’t need to know what happens immediately. Plus if I skip pages in the middle I will probably miss some big reveal or plot point.
Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
Keeping in kind of like new. I don’t intentionally break the spine but if it happens I don’t freak out. I mean it’s a book.
Do you write in your book?
Again, sometimes. I recently started annotating certain books. It’s usually literary fiction because I sometimes have difficulty remembering what I want to say in my reviews. I also will highlight things in YA fantasies because I feel like I need to remember them.
That’s all the questions for this tap. What are some of your reading habits? Let’s chat in the comments.
