Will I Continue? Wayward Children Series by Seanan McGuire

Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children, #1)

Hey y’all! Today I have another installment of Will I Continue? I will be talking about Every Heart a Doorway, book one in the Wayward Children’s series, by Seanan McGuire. I read this book for the 24 hour readathon I did last weekend.

There were many things that I enjoyed about this book. The writing was whimsical and engaging.  I loved that characters and found that I really got to know some of them and cared deeply for them. I also enjoyed the pacing of the book. I never felt like it was dragging which I appreciated in such a short book.

There were a few things that I disliked. Mostly it was the mystery plot that I disliked. Plus I figured out the mystery pretty  early so it really did not hold my attention. I also wanted more from the school setting. I feel like the time that was spent on the mystery could have been spent on building the world more. But there are additional books in the series and I believe the fourth book returns us to the school so there’s that.

So Will I Continue?…… Yes because the companion novel synopsis sound really interesting to me. Plus the characters that they are following were some of the ones that I was attached to. I really wanted to love this series and I do enjoy the writing enough to continue. Maybe on a re-read I will love it more. I do have Down Among the Sticks and Bones on audiobook and will be listening to it soon.

What are your thoughts on the Wayward Children series? Have you read them? Let’s chat in the comments.
