What I Read and Weekly TBR

Hey y’all! I’m back again with a weekly wrap-up and TBR.  My reading has slowed a little bit this month but I was able to complete 2 books over last week and start two more. My reading mood has been a little lackluster. I just cannot decide what I want to read next. I think I may do a try a chapter tag and see which one I am unable to put down. Anyway, let’s get into what I read and what I plan to read over the next week.

What I Completed

In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan – I enjoyed this book so much. Elliot is definitely one of my favorite literary characters I’ve read in a while. He was snarky and sensitive and the author did an excellent job of giving some backstory to him that you didn’t so much mind his snark.

Marlena by Julie Buntin – I have a lot of thoughts about this book and want to do a full book review. Buntin is definitely a writer to watch and I can’t believe this is her debut. The story was captivating and I have so many thoughts about it.

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee – I read the last 20 pages this morning. This was definitely the family saga that I needed in my life. I find that I like historical fiction when it is told through a family saga and not set in the US. Anyway this book starts at the turn of the century and goes through the 80’s. This talks about the Japanese occupation in Korea and talks about WWII and it was amazing. This is another that warrants a full review.

What I’m Currently Reading

The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery – I’m only about 50 pages in so I don’t have any opinions. This follows a concierge and a 12 year old girl. Both of them are living one life but have some big secrets about themselves.

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory – This is my current audiobook and it’s ok. I don’t know if I’m in the mood for this book. I”m gonna give it a little more time.

The Art of French Kissing by Brianna R. Shrum – I started this but again, I don’t know if I’m in a contemporary mood.  I really need to read this though so I hope to make my way through it.

What I Plan to Read

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo – This is the second book in the Grisha trilogy.  I have the audiobook and will definitely be listening this week.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte – This is a classic that I have been meaning to read. There are a lot of allusions to this in other literary works so I feel like I want to read the source material.

Since my reading has been so slow, I don’t  want to overload myself. I’m hoping I will snap out of this mood and read all of the books.

What are you currently reading? What do you plan on reading this week? Let’s chat in the comments.

Much Love,

Tasha
