Hey y’all! I will participating in the Tome Topple Readathon from June 29 at Midnight – July 12 at 11:59. This is one of my favorite readathons because it’s for two weeks and it’s focused on books over 500 pages. I enjoy getting wrapped up in a large family saga or an epic fantasy, so this is perfect for me. There are 5 challenge but they aren’t strict about them, so I wasn’t strict about which books that I selected for Tome Topple. The most important thing to remember is read only books over 500 pages. For more information on the readathon check Tome Topple Readathon on twitter.
So I have a list of about 5 books that I would like to at least start over the two weeks of the readathon. Here they are:
The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu – I started this for another readathon at the beginning of May but I was burned out on fantasy, so I will be picking this up and finishing the last half of this for Tome Topple. The author describes this as a “silk punk” fantasy. It’s Asian inspired and Ken Liu is an amazing storyteller. I enjoyed this book while I’m reading it and I’m interested to see how the big battle sing works out.
Orange The Complete Collection Vol. 1 by Ichigo Takano – This is a manga that I have heard nothing but good things about. This is a story about a girl who receives a letter from her future self. That’s all I really know about this story and all I want to know.
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor – It’s time that I finally read this one. This is the story of Lazlo Strange who is obsessed with the lost city of Weap (sp?). This will be the first book that I pick up for the readathon on Friday.
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton – In an attempt to not burn myself out on fantasy I wanted to pick up this book. I believe this is a dual timeline narrative and I have heard good things about Kate Morton. I think this may be the type of quiet historical fiction that I actually enjoy.
Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray – This is the second book in The Diviner’s series. I have had this audiobook for way too long and I need to finally continue with the series.
This is my totally ambitious TBR for the Tome Topple Readathon Round 6. I have a lot of audio books that should help me get through these books. I audio book a lot at work so that’s how I read so much.
Are you participating in the readathon? What’s your favorite long book? Let’s chat in the comments.
