November 2019 TBR

Hey y’all! Today I am here to talk about the books that I plan on trying to read for the month of November. Like everything in my life, this could drastically changed but these are the ones that I hope to complete in the month of November.

Since it’s #NonfictionNovember,. I would like to complete the following:

Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi – On the very basic level, this book explores the history of racism in America.

I’m Still Here by Austin Channing Brown – This is an essay collection about a black woman’s experience in mostly white spaces.

When Affirmative Action Was White by Ira Katznelson – This was a recommendation from a friend that I picked up a while ago and I want to try to get to it this month.

Also I will be participating in Tome Topple from November 9-22. Tome Topple is a readathon that’s focus is to read books over 500 pages. Here is the twitter for Tome Topple so that you can get challenges, etc. The books I hope to read are:

The Marvels by Brian Selznick – This is from the author of The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I love the way he tells a story and this will be a fun and easy read.

The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang – This is an Asian inspired high fantasy that I have been so interested in reading. I think this could be a new favorite so I’m excited to get into it.

The Sport of Kings by C.E. Morgan – This is an inter-generational family saga about horse breeders who breed racing horses. This was popular the year it came out but I never got around to it. I haven’t read a family saga in forever and I can’t wait to get to this one.

The Glass Sentence by S.E. Grove – I have been about halfway through this one for months now and I really want to finish it. This is a middle grade story about a girl who lives with her uncle when he is taken and she must go find him. Cute middle grade, really want to finish.

Lastly, I am the discussion leader at book club this month, so I will be re-reading Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I don’t mind this at all because this book is one of my favorites from this year and I can’t wait to dive deep and have a good discussion about the book.

I also plan on participating in The One Readathon to Rule Them All later in the month but I’m going to do a separate TBR for that one.
