
The Seven Realms is a quartet including: The Demon King, The Exiled Queen, The Gray Wolf Throne and The Crimson Crown.
Throughout the series we follow Hans Alister, a notorious street lord who is looking to change his ways and Princess Raisa ana Maria, the heir to the Gray Wolf Throne. In the Seven Realms there is constant war and in the vale there is in fighting between the spirit clan and the wizards. The carefully balanced peace between the two is tipped through a series of events and war is on the horizon.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I did a full review of The Demon King. By the end of that book I cared so much about the characters and what was going to happen in the world. The book is evenly paced and it just propels you through the story. There are not a lot of super wow moments, however when I got to the end of every book, I said “Dang that’s a good fantasy.” Chima is masterful in her plot development and progression.
If you are looking for a high fantasy with a lot of action scenes and super fast paced, then you won’t like this series. If you want a well plotted political fantasy with a bit of romance and magic, this is definitely a series that you should check out.
Overall, I highly recommend this series as a bridge for middle grade fantasy readers to the YA fantasy genre and also for people who don’t read fantasy often but want to give it a try. The world and magic systems are easy to understand and the characters and political machinations will propel you through the
