Romance Wrap Up #1

Hey y’all! Today I am doing a wrap up of all my recent romance reads. I, unintentionally, put them from steamiest to mildest. And boy did I read some steamy stuff. Here are the romance books I recently finished.

Initiation

Initiation by Melanie Gill – This follows Jonah, who has a chance encounter with Anya and his mundane would is opened to the exciting and sexy world of BDSM. I really enjoyed Jonah as a character and his progression through the BDSM world. I haven’t read a BDSM romance in a while, but I really enjoyed the subtle way the author discussed BDSM and what it entailed. There was a small supernatural element that seemed to be thrown in that I would have liked more information about. This is extremely graphic on the sex scenes and not for the faint of heart. If you like that kind of thing, I recommend it. Thank you Scarlet Lantern Press for the free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Avalon

Avalon by Bella Scott – This is the second book in Scott’s Le Blanc family series, the first being Thorns. In this one we follow the Avalon, the cousin of Luke from Thorns, who is a marketing director living in Spain. Before coming to America for an event, she caught her boyfriend she moved to Spain with, in bed with another woman. At the event, Avalon meets Alex, the ex of Rose from book one, and things take off from there. This was again very steamy. Alex and Avalon’s love story was sweet but lacked depth. It wasn’t totally believable. Overall, I really enjoyed the characters and enjoyed the story. Thank you Scarlet Lantern Press for the free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1)

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert – Chloe is a black woman living in London with a chronic illness and her family has always treated her like she was breakable. After a near death experience, Chloe decides that she is going to “get a life” and creates a list of things she wants to do to create the life that she is not having. Redford is the landlord of the building Chloe moves to, and through a series of events decides that he is going to help Chloe with her list. Redford is battling some of his own demons but he too is working to get a life. This romance was hot and swoon-worthy. This one is very sexy and the sex in the book is explicit but not over the top. I love Chloe and Red with all of my heart and their romance was everything. I can’t wait to read about Chloe’s sister, Dani, in the companion novel, Take a Hint, Dani Brown.

Jackson (The McBrides of Texas #1; Eternity Springs #16)

Jackson by Emily March – A small Texas town romance about, Jackson who has just gone through a nasty divorce with his famous ex-wife and moves to the town where the family owns a ranch. He meets Celeste who is a woman who is also trying to leave something behind and moves to the small town to open a bookstore. They have encounters and with trepidation try to figure out how to navigate each other’s complicated lives. I would use the term sweet to describe this romance. The progression of the romance wasn’t exactly a slow burn but it progressed at a steady, believable pace. The sexy scenes were mostly fade to black and the story was so good. The side characters were interesting enough to make me want to read the other books in this series, because I loved them so much.

These are the first couple of romances I have read this year. I love picking up a romance when I want something fast and to give me the warm feelings inside.

What are some of your favorite romances you have recently finished? Let’s chat in the comments.
