Series to Start in 2021

Hey y’all!! Today I wanted to talk about the series that I would like to start in 2021. There are five on this list and a couple of them are only duologies.

Chronicles of the Bitch Queen by K.S. Villoso (2 books out Orbit)
The Wolf of Oren-Yaro
The Ikessar Falcon

This is a female centered high fantasy series. Queen Talyien is suppose to be in an arranged marriage to keep the peace between her kingdom and another, but the groom disappears before they can get married. Years later when she is invited to an event across the sea, someone attempts to assassinate her and leaves her stranded in this new land. I have heard bad ass things about this one, and I’m so excited to get to it!

A Chorus of Dragons by Jenn Lyons (Ongoing 3 books out, Tor)
The Ruin of Kings
The Name of All Things
The Memory of Souls
The House of Always (May 11)

I have heard mixed things about this series, but I want to give it a try. Kihrin is an orphaned bastard who grew up reading about long lost princes. He is kidnapped and told he is the son of a disgraced prince. Then things happen. There are dragons and I’m ready.

The Books of Ambha by Tasha Suri (Completed-Orbit)
Empire of Sand
Realm of Ash

This is a companion series. A middle eastern, female centered fantasy. Mehr is the bastard child of a governor in this world and is part of a lesser race. She inherited her mother’s power and things happen. Uh, yes please to ALL these tropes.

The Burning by Evan Winter (Ongoing, 2 books out – Orbit)
The Rage of Dragons
The Fires of Vengance

I have been told that if I don’t read this African inspired, epic high fantasy, I will be exiled from the black book community. LOL. So I will definitely be getting to this one. We follow Tau who is from a lesser class but is cool with the upper echelon and things happen. I don’t want to know anything else.

The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson (Ongoing, 4 books out – Tor)
The Way of Kings
Words of Radiance
Rhythm of War

We have all heard of this series. Hell, I have attempted this series before but I wasn’t in the mood. We follow very several characters whose storylines eventually converge and then there’s a war. I really like Sanderson’s character work so I am excited to get attached to these characters and I will have plenty to read if I end up loving this since it’s suppose to be a 10 book series.

These are five of the series that I hope to have made progress in 2021.

What are some series you want to read? What are your thoughts on these? Let’s chat in the comments.
